Independent Living

The Youth Resource Center works with young adults ages 17-24 who have aged out of foster care or are at risk for foster care involvement with their young family. It is almost impossible for young adults to develop life skills to enable them to live on their own without guidance and support. At the Youth Resource Center, young adults are connected to an Independent Living specialist that will conduct goal-setting exercises to meet current and future needs of young adults. Together, a life plan is created which serves as a tool to build stability and self-sufficiency.

Life Plan

Young adults are assisted in creating an individualized action plan to determine and work toward independent living goals. Our Independent Living Specialist works to support them in identifying, taking steps, and accomplishing these goals.

Community Resources

We connect young adults to local community resource agencies that can address needs such as:

  • Education
  • Finances
  • Employment
  • Food & Nutrition
  • Mental Health
  • Housing
  • Childcare
